In the science of Positive Psychology, the emphasis is on evidence-based research and outcomes.

Positive Organisational Behaviour (POB) is the study of how positive psychological resources and positivity contribute to organisational health.

POB can be defined as “the study and application of positively oriented human resource strengths and psychological capacities that can be measured, developed, and effectively managed for performance improvement in today’s workplace”.

Psychological capital, or PsyCap, is defined as “an individual’s positive psychological state of development” and is characterised by the mnemonic HERO:

  • Hope
  • Efficacy
  • Resilience
  • Optimism.
